Throughout the year, the Village of Westmont coordinates, schedules, and performs a number of construction updates that improve our community’s infrastructure for our residents and businesses. Also, the County and State perform various construction projects that may impact our community. This page has been designed to provide information regarding construction projects that will impact the Village of Westmont during the upcoming year. Warwick Watermain Improvements Project
Expected completion date: Summer 2024
Location:
- Warwick Ave from Burlington to Naperville
Description:
This project consists of approximately 2,200 linear feet of 8" PVC watermain, including gate valves, vaults, fire hydrants, services and other associated work. This project is being partially funded by a $500,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

02/22/2024:
Anticipated contract award by Village Board.
04/19/2024:
Work on the project will begin on Monday April 22, 2024. Watermain will be installed by directional drilling on the west side of Warwick in the parkway. Expect delays due to the presence of trucks and equipment in the roadway. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Affected residents have been directly notified.
05/17/2024:
The contractor has completed the installation of the mainline watermain pipe. Installation of fire hydrants and valves is ongoing.
06/06/2024:
The contractor has completed the installation of the mainline watermain pipe, valves and hydrants. The watermain has been pressure tested and chlorinated. After water samples are cleared, the contractor will begin making the service taps. Residents may experience a short period without water when their water service is transferred to the new watermain.
06/21/2024:
The contractor is in the process of transferring water services to the new watermain. Residents may experience a short period without water when their water service is transferred. The contractor will be working on transferring water services for the next few weeks.
08/20/2024:
The contractor is completing the final set of water services, finalizing abandoning the old watermain, and performing concrete, asphalt and landscape restoration.
Residential Alley 5S Reconstruction Project
Expected completion date: Summer 2024
Location:
Residential Alley bounded by Washington Street & Adams Street and 55th Street & Quincy Street.
Description:
Reconstruction of the gravel alley with asphalt pavement, concrete edge restraint, storm sewer and associated restoration.
Updates:
03/21/2024: Anticipated contract award by Village Board.
05/17/2024: The contractor has mobilized to the site and has begun installing storm sewer. Work began at 55th Street and will be moving north from there. Affected residents should place their garbage cans at the curb. Affected residents have been directly notified.
06/06/2024: The contractor is continuing to install storm sewer. Today the contractor is installing storm sewer on Des Moines. Storm sewer work will continue for the next couple of weeks, weather permitting.
06/21/2024: The contractor is continuing to install storm sewer. Today the contractor is installing a storm sewer connection on Washington Street between Quincy and Richmond.
07/03/2024: Beginning the week of July 8, excavation work in the alley will begin. Work will start at the south block between 55th Street and Des Moines Street, and will work north towards Quincy Street. There will be no access to the alley, garages and parking lots when excavating work begins. Overnight parking will be allowed on adjacent streets; please follow all parking restriction signage. Garbage pickup will be on the street curb of Adams, Washington and Quincy. Affected residents have been directly notified.
08/23/2024: Asphalt paving of the alley is scheduled for next week, weather permitting.
2024 MFT Street Resurfacing Project
Expected completion date: Fall 2024
Description:
Resurfacing of approximately two (2) miles of roadways at various locations throughout the Village. Project will include surface grinding, base repairs, curb and gutter repairs, sidewalk repairs and ADA improvements, along with other miscellaneous work.

Updates:
7/24/2024:A preconstruction meeting was held with the contractor. Work will begin around Labor Day. Affected residents will receive a direct notification closer to the start of construction.
8/20/2024:The contractor has begun staging traffic control and performing layout for the project. The contractor will begin sawcutting for concrete removals to begin next week.
2024 Westmont Sidewalk Program- S Wilmette Street
Project to begin Fall 2024

- S Wilmette Avenue (E Dallas to E Quincy)
Description:
This project consists of construction of new sidewalk and ADA compliant ramps on the west side of S Wilmette Ave.
Updates:
07/24/2024: Surveying and engineering design of the project is underway. Project is schedule for construction in Fall 2024.
